Ballarat is one of the most significant regional centres in Australia and is the site for the only armed uprising in Australia’s history – the Eureka Rebellion in 1854. The Centre for Australian Democracy, based at the site of this rebellion, the Eureka Stockade, is to open in May 2013 and will be well and truly established by 2015. With the theme of Eureka – Greek for “I have found” – this Gathering will tie in the spiritual and biblical meanings of “eureka” – finding and seeking – with the historical location, and our interest in Australian spirituality and Australian democracy.

In September, Ballarat is a very beautiful and picturesque location. Our location is to be Ballarat Grammar School close to the shores of Lake Wendouree and will make for a conference in a historic school, with a great communal feel with spring in the air as the weather warms up and there are signs of new life around us.

Here are some of the advantages we will enjoy at this location:

Affordable prices
Boarding School accommodation with enough downstairs accommodation for the Wellspring Group but with communal bathroom facilities in all cases.
School cafeteria-style catering.
Use of spaces in the Wendouree Performing Arts Centre for plenary sessions and a large and versatile school chapel for worship.
Ethos in keeping with our own.
We can walk in and out without extra cost or time for cleaning.
Very close to Lake Wendouree for walks and relaxation.
Close to a railway station for those coming by train.
Beautiful time of year to be in this part of Victoria.
