Asylum Seekers Service of Lament Sydney 3 August -- A Uniting Church Initiative
Asylum Seekers Service of Lament Sydney 3 August
A Uniting Church Initiative
A Service of Lament to express our shared frustration and abject disappointment at the failure to find a humane response to the plight of asylum seekers will be held
WHEN: 10 – 11am, Saturday 3 August
WHERE: Pitt St Uniting Church, 264 Pitt Street, Sydney
The Uniting Church Social Justice Forum, which brings together the Uniting Church and its community service and social justice division of Uniting Care NSW.ACT, has called this Service of Lament to express our sadness and concern at the treatment of asylum seekers.
The Church inspired by Jesus’ spirit of compassion and justice and his solidarity with the most vulnerable. We cannot simply stand by and watch our fellow human beings treated with such indignity. This is our opportunity to show the depth of our compassion for those seeking refuge from persecution and war.
We hope to inspire Australians from all walks of life to join us, so please forward this email to your friends. Attached is a flyer for distribution at your service this Sunday, if that is possible.
Please join us, if at all possible, from 10 – 11am at Pitt St Uniting Church for our Service of Lament. We look forward to seeing you next Saturday.
